Dr Ippokratis Sarris is a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and the Director of King’s Fertility, an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London and an Honorary Consultant at King’s College Hospital. He is also the HFEA Person Responsible for the unit. As such, he oversees the centre’s clinical, research, educational and regulatory activities.

Dr Sarris graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1999 after which he completed his medical degree at Oxford’s Magdalen College. Moving to London, he became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and joined the Oxford Maternal Perinatal Health Institute as a clinical research fellow. Through this he was awarded his Doctorate.

Dr Sarris completed his specialty training at several London teaching hospitals and subsequently moved to Newcastle to complete his subspecialty training in reproductive medicine and surgery, leading to his dual accreditation with the General Medical Council. Following this period, he returned to London to work as a fertility consultant.

Dr Sarris has written over two-dozen peer-reviewed academic papers, seven book chapters and two Oxford University Press textbooks in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. He has tutored and lectured in graduate and postgraduate Medicine and continues to mentor trainee doctors through the King’s Fertility research fellowship programme along with acting as a supervisor for MD/PhD degrees at King’s College London.

An active member of numerous medical organisations, Ippokratis is an elected member of the Executive Committee of the British Fertility Society, as well as a member of its Training Subcommittee as Chair of the Pelvic Ultrasound Study Days.

Embracing the ethos of the Fetal Medicine Foundation, Ippokratis joined the organisation to set up and lead King’s Fertility. He is passionate about tailoring treatments to meet the unique and specific needs of patients: offering high quality care and a satisfying patient experience.

After graduating from Birmingham Medical school in 2007, Dr Sarah Evans commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps where she has served for nearly 18 years. She has deployed on operations and large scale exercises and seen first-hand some of the difficulties that serving personnel can face when trying to conceive. 

Dr Evans cemented her interest in reproductive medicine with a fellowship at King’s Fertility in 2020 and established a specialist knowledge base with the Advanced Training Skills module in Subfertility. On completion of the RCOG postgraduate specialist training programme, Dr Evans was appointed as a Military Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2022, taking up a Consultant post between Frimley Park (Joint Hospital Group) NHS trust and King’s Fertility. 

Having completed the British Fertility Society study module in male infertility, Dr Evans has an interest in male factor infertility and fertility preservation. She is a member of the British Fertility Society and European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. She is passionate about communication and education in order to enable people to make their own fertility choices.

Dr Rachel Imrie is a Consultant in Gynaecology and Assisted Conception at King’s Fertility. Having graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ school of medicine in 2007, Dr Modarres-Moffett completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology across hospitals in London and Surrey, becoming a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2014.

She pursued her passion in reproductive medicine by completing a fellowship at King’s College Hospital Assisted Conception Unit where she was involved in research and academic work alongside her clinical work. Dr Tsironis graduated from the Athens Medical School in Greece in 2005. He completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University Hospital of Ioannina in Greece in 2013. Following this he received further specialisation in Reproductive Medicine at some of the largest assisted conception units in the UK.

Dr Kugajeevan Vigneswaran is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery.

Dr Vigneswaran graduated from St. George’s, University of London in 2008. He remained in London, spending a decade training in obstetrics and gynaecology and working in teaching hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas’ and St George’s Hospital.  

He then completed a dedicated fellowship in assisted conception before undertaking Subspeciality Training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and King’s Fertility, leading to his dual accreditation with the General Medical Council. 

He continued on at King’s Fertility where he now works as a Consultant offering reproductive medicine care as well as specialised clinics in reproductive endocrinology and ambulatory gynaecology.   

Dr Vigneswaran is actively engaged in research, publishing peer-reviewed papers, giving lectures as well as authoring several book chapters on the use of ultrasound in subfertility, the treatment of subfertility and the impact of gynaecological conditions on reproductive outcomes.

Dr Sesh Sunkara is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine at King’s Fertility and Senior Clinical Lecturer in Reproductive Medicine at King’s College London. Dr Sunkara is the lead for many of the research projects undertaken at King’s Fertility. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Her research work on poor responders undergoing IVF formed the basis for her thesis leading to her Doctor of Medicine degree in Reproductive Medicine awarded by King’s College London.

In addition to her considerable clinical expertise, Dr Sunkara is a highly cited author in the field of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility with over 70 peer reviewed scientific papers. She has authored several other articles and book chapters and has also organized and lectured at many national and international conferences. She is ranked in the top 0.18% of published authors worldwide on infertility (Expertscape 2022).

Dr Sunkara is currently Associate Editor for Human Reproduction Update Journal, the highest impact factor journal in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She was previously Associate Editor of the Human Reproduction Journal from 2014 to 2018. She is on the Editorial Board of Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology Journal, Associate Editor of Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation Journal and an expert reviewer for several other journals. She is a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) Guideline Development Group (GDG) for Ovarian Stimulation in IVF and the ESHRE Guideline on Unexplained Infertility.

His areas of interest include infertility and assisted reproduction, premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and menopause, gynaecological endocrinology including polycystic ovary syndrome, management of fibroids and endometriosis and minimal access surgery.

In addition, Mr Hamoda has published widely in his specialised field and is actively involved in ongoing research projects both locally and nationally and teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Mr Hamoda qualified in 1994 and was admitted as a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2000. He was awarded a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Aberdeen and obtained his accreditation as a subspecialist in reproductive medicine and surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

hysteroscopy at King’s College Hospital and the regional preceptor for hysteroscopy training.

Dr Subramanian graduated from the University of Nottingham and trained in the prestigious South London rotation including King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’. During his training, he acquired accreditation from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the medical and surgical management of infertility, complications of early pregnancy and hysteroscopic surgery.

Dr Subramanian also undertook a competitive senior clinical fellowship in reproductive medicine at King’s Fertility. During this high-volume fellowship, he became proficient in all aspects of reproductive medicine including assisted conception care, fertility preservation for social and
medical reasons as well as oocyte retrieval, intrauterine insemination and embryo transfer procedures. The culmination of this experience led to him being independently accredited for his skills and expertise in the field by the British Fertility Society.

He has published in leading journals such as the BMJ, BJOG and Human Reproduction as well as book chapters in the field of reproductive medicine. He has presented nationally and internationally, won numerous prizes and was awarded an MPhil for his research in reproductive surgical simulation.

Dr Subramanian currently undertakes a high-volume clinical practice, with standardisation of care that is evidence based but ensuring that his treatment plans are individualised and tailored to the needs of his patients.

Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist

Mr Gordon Muir is a consultant urological surgeon whose NHS base is King’s College Hospital, he qualified in medicine at the University of Glasgow and spent time in the Army, then his postgraduate training in surgery and urology took place in London at St George’s and the Royal Marsden Hospitals as well as time spent in France, Egypt , the USA and Italy.

His clinical interests are in prostate disease (particularly minimally invasive management of prostate symptoms and prostate cancer), male urinary symptoms including incontinence, and male sexual dysfunction and fertility (including treatments and surgery for erectile problems).

He has research and publication expertise in the fields of surgical training, erectile problems, laser prostatectomy and urological cancer. Mr Muir runs regular international training courses for other specialists, and has lectured in these areas around the world, with visiting professorships in Asia, Europe, Africa and the USA.

Special interests:

Niki Konsta

Head of Nursing

Niki is a Midwifery graduate with an MSc in Management of Health Care Services from the National University of Athens. She worked as a fertility nurse in IVF clinics in Athens and Manchester for more than a decade before joining King’s Fertility.

As Head of Nursing, Niki works closely with the team to ensure the patient experience is smooth and that personal care is always top of the agenda. She is also a member of Royal College of Nursing and certified by the British Fertility Society in Pelvic Ultrasound.

Niki brings 15 years of experience at the coal face of healthcare working both as a midwife and a fertility nurse. The circle of life begins at conception and Niki has had the privilege of contributing in fertility disciplines that help begin the process.

Niki is also adept in the business and management side of running a successful fertility clinic and strongly believes that high quality, individualised treatment will achieve the best possible outcomes. Passionate about fertility, Niki strives to ensure anyone who wants to be a parent is given their best chance of success in a calm and compassionate environment.

Head of Embryology

Anastasia Mania has been actively involved in fertility treatment and research since graduating in Molecular Biology at University College London (UCL) in 2004.

She joined the clinical team at UCL working on preimplantation genetic diagnosis and screening (PGD and PGS) whilst at the same time obtaining her MSc in Pre-implantation Genetics and Fetal Medicine (2007).

During her time at UCL she got her first taste for research when investigating chromosomal changes in embryos. Spurred on by this, she began her clinical training in Embryology at a large NHS teaching Hospital in London, where she coordinated the PGD service until 2013. During this time, she became ACE and HCPC registered and taught as an honorary lecturer at Imperial College London’s Masters in Reproductive Biology.

Anastasia then joined a very successful private London unit as a senior embryologist where she became very proficient in oocyte vitrification and blastocyst biopsy. Whilst there, she became team leader for the research group and has published several papers.

Anastasia is passionate about improving pregnancy outcomes and applying the latest research to her clinical work while caring for the patient. Now at King’s Fertility, she is excited about the road ahead.
