Dr Ippokratis
Sarris

Dr Ippokratis Sarris is a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and the Director of King’s Fertility, an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London and an Honorary Consultant at King’s College Hospital. He is also the HFEA Person Responsible for the unit. As such, he oversees the centre’s clinical, research, educational and regulatory activities.

Dr Sarris graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1999 after which he completed his medical degree at Oxford’s Magdalen College. Moving to London, he became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and joined the Oxford Maternal Perinatal Health Institute as a clinical research fellow. Through this he was awarded his Doctorate.

Dr Sarris completed his specialty training at several London teaching hospitals and subsequently moved to Newcastle to complete his subspecialty training in reproductive medicine and surgery, leading to his dual accreditation with the General Medical Council. Following this period, he returned to London to work as a fertility consultant.

Dr Sarris has written over two-dozen peer-reviewed academic papers, seven book chapters and two Oxford University Press textbooks in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. He has tutored and lectured in graduate and postgraduate Medicine and continues to mentor trainee doctors through the King’s Fertility research fellowship programme along with acting as a supervisor for MD/PhD degrees at King’s College London.

An active member of numerous medical organisations, Ippokratis is an elected member of the Executive Committee of the British Fertility Society, as well as a member of its Training Subcommittee as Chair of the Pelvic Ultrasound Study Days.

Embracing the ethos of the Fetal Medicine Foundation, Ippokratis joined the organisation to set up and lead King’s Fertility. He is passionate about tailoring treatments to meet the unique and specific needs of patients: offering high quality care and a satisfying patient experience.

Dr Sarah
Evans

After graduating from Birmingham Medical school in 2007, Dr Sarah Evans commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps where she has served for nearly 18 years. She has deployed on operations and large scale exercises and seen first-hand some of the difficulties that serving personnel can face when trying to conceive. 

Dr Evans cemented her interest in reproductive medicine with a fellowship at King’s Fertility in 2020 and established a specialist knowledge base with the Advanced Training Skills module in Subfertility. On completion of the RCOG postgraduate specialist training programme, Dr Evans was appointed as a Military Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2022, taking up a Consultant post between Frimley Park (Joint Hospital Group) NHS trust and King’s Fertility. 

Having completed the British Fertility Society study module in male infertility, Dr Evans has an interest in male factor infertility and fertility preservation. She is a member of the British Fertility Society and European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. She is passionate about communication and education in order to enable people to make their own fertility choices. 

Dr Rachel
Imrie

Dr Rachel Imrie is a Consultant in Gynaecology and Assisted Conception at King’s Fertility. Dr Imrie graduated from Somerville College, University of Oxford in 2005 with a degree in physiological sciences, specialising in genetics and embryological development. She was awarded her MBBS in 2008 at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Dr Imrie completed her obstetrics and gynaecology training at a number of prestigious teaching hospitals in South London. She gained her proficiency and expertise in ART during her 3-year senior clinical and research fellowship at King’s Fertility. She has been involved in national and international research, has published a number of peer-reviewed academic papers and is undertaking a MD(Res) at King’s College London.

Dr Imrie believes strongly in a patient-centred and individualised approach to care and treatment, ensuring her patients feel empowered on their fertility journey.

Dr Maryam
Modarres-Moffett

Dr Maryam Modarres-Moffett is a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who specialises in fertility.

Having graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ school of medicine in 2007, Dr Modarres-Moffett completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology across hospitals in London and Surrey, becoming a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2014.

She pursued her passion in reproductive medicine by completing a fellowship at King’s College Hospital Assisted Conception Unit where she was involved in research and academic work alongside her clinical work. She has presented her work at several national and international meetings and is a member of the British Fertility Society.

With a keen interest in education, Dr Modarres-Moffett completed a fellowship in Medical Education at King’s College London; she continues to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as being involved in medical school final year assessments.

Dr Modarres-Moffett joined King’s Fertility as she firmly believes in our ethos of providing high quality individualised care whilst being at the forefront of innovation.

Dr Apostolos
Tsironis

Dr Apostolos Tsironis is a Consultant Gynaecologist who specialises in fertility.

Dr Tsironis graduated from the Athens Medical School in Greece in 2005. He completed his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University Hospital of Ioannina in Greece in 2013. Following this he received further specialisation in Reproductive Medicine at some of the largest assisted conception units in the UK.

Dr Tsironis has worked for a number of years as a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine in the independent sector in London, where he developed a special interest in Reproductive Genetics as well as managing women with low ovarian reserve and polycystic ovary syndrome.

He is a member of the British Fertility Society and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. He has presented his work in various conferences at both national and international level.

Dr Tsironis joined King’s Fertility as he shares the unit’s ethos of achieving excellence and improving quality in the care of those with fertility problems, whilst being at the forefront of innovation.

Dr Kugajeevan
Vigneswaran

Dr Kugajeevan Vigneswaran is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery.

Dr Vigneswaran graduated from St. George’s, University of London in 2008. He remained in London, spending a decade training in obstetrics and gynaecology and working in teaching hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas’ and St George’s Hospital.  

He then completed a dedicated fellowship in assisted conception before undertaking Subspeciality Training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and King’s Fertility, leading to his dual accreditation with the General Medical Council. 

He continued on at King’s Fertility where he now works as a Consultant offering reproductive medicine care as well as specialised clinics in reproductive endocrinology and ambulatory gynaecology.   

Dr Vigneswaran is actively engaged in research, publishing peer-reviewed papers, giving lectures as well as authoring several book chapters on the use of ultrasound in subfertility, the treatment of subfertility and the impact of gynaecological conditions on reproductive outcomes. 

He is a member of the British Fertility Society (BFS), British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RCOG), British Menopause Society (BMS) as well as the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). 

Dr Sesh
Sunkara

Dr Sesh Sunkara is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine at King’s Fertility and Senior Clinical Lecturer in Reproductive Medicine at King’s College London. Dr Sunkara is the lead for many of the research projects undertaken at King’s Fertility. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Her research work on poor responders undergoing IVF formed the basis for her thesis leading to her Doctor of Medicine degree in Reproductive Medicine awarded by King’s College London.

In addition to her considerable clinical expertise, Dr Sunkara is a highly cited author in the field of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility with over 70 peer reviewed scientific papers. She has authored several other articles and book chapters and has also organized and lectured at many national and international conferences. She is ranked in the top 0.18% of published authors worldwide on infertility (Expertscape 2022).

Dr Sunkara is currently Associate Editor for Human Reproduction Update Journal, the highest impact factor journal in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She was previously Associate Editor of the Human Reproduction Journal from 2014 to 2018. She is on the Editorial Board of Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology Journal, Associate Editor of Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation Journal and an expert reviewer for several other journals. She is a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) Guideline Development Group (GDG) for Ovarian Stimulation in IVF and the ESHRE Guideline on Unexplained Infertility.

Mr Haitham
Hamoda

Dr Haitham Hamoda is a Consultant Gynaecologist and subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He is the Clinical Lead for the Menopause Service at King’s College Hospital and is the Chair Elect for the British Menopause Society. He is the first author of The British Menopause Society & Women’s Health Concern 2016 recommendations on hormone replacement therapy in menopausal women and author of the British Menopause Society guideline on the management of women with premature ovarian insufficiency 2017. He is co-author of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Green Top guideline on the management of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

His areas of interest include infertility and assisted reproduction, premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and menopause, gynaecological endocrinology including polycystic ovary syndrome, management of fibroids and endometriosis and minimal access surgery.

In addition, Mr Hamoda has published widely in his specialised field and is actively involved in ongoing research projects both locally and nationally and teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Mr Hamoda qualified in 1994 and was admitted as a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2000. He was awarded a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Aberdeen and obtained his accreditation as a subspecialist in reproductive medicine and surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Mr Nitish
Narvekar

Dr Nitish Narvekar is a Consultant Gynaecologist and a specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Minimal Access Surgery based in London. He is an approved healthcare provider for all major insurance companies and available for private consultation and operations by appointment.

He specialises in the investigation and treatment of infertility, fertility preservation, fibroids, endometriosis, uterine anomalies including uterine septum, miscarriage, polycystic ovaries, menstrual bleeding disorders and pelvic pain. He is an expert in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery having performed over 500 complex operations for management of various gynaecological conditions.

He graduated from Goa University, India in 1990 and trained as an obstetrician and gynaecologist thereafter. He then migrated to the UK in 1999 and undertook a research fellowship in reproductive medicine at the University of Edinburgh followed by a sub-specialty fellowship in reproductive medicine and minimal access surgery at University College London Hospitals. He was accredited as a specialist in 2008.

Dr Narvekar is widely published in the field of reproductive medicine and minimal access surgery and is actively involved in the training, examination and supervision of students and specialists.

Dr Prashant
Purohit

Dr Prashant Purohit is a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who specialises in fertility.

Dr Purohit is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and King’s Fertility, London.

Having graduated from Maharashtra University, India in 2004 he went on to complete his Master of Surgery in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Mumbai with distinction and Gold medal. He has been working in the UK since 2010 and undertook a clinical research fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at King’s College Hospital. Dr Purohit was admitted as a member of Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists in 2011 and completed his speciality training at the Glasgow Deanery.

Dr Purohit specialises in the management of infertile couples, fertility preservation, fibroids, endometriosis, miscarriage, polycystic ovaries, menopause, menstrual bleeding disorders and pelvic pain.

He has been widely published in the field of reproductive medicine and gynaecology and is actively involved in the training, assessment and supervision of students and specialists.

Mr Kuhan
Rajah

Kuhan Rajah is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine. He works at King’s College Hospital and King’s Fertility. His areas of expertise are gynaecological and early pregnancy ultrasound, minimally invasive surgery and all aspects of fertility medicine including in vitro fertilization, fertility preservation and recurrent miscarriage.

After graduating from the University of Manchester in 2006, Mr Rajah undertook postgraduate specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in North West London, working in teaching hospitals including Chelsea and Westminster and Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in gynaecological and early pregnancy ultrasound with Professor Davor Jurkovic before undertaking Subspeciality Training in Reproductive Medicine at University College London Hospital and The Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health.

Dr Venkatesh
Subramanian

Dr Venkatesh Subramanian is a consultant in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine at King’s Fertility and King’s College Hospital. His areas of expertise include reproductive medicine and surgery, early pregnancy and advanced gynaecological ultrasound. He is the lead for
hysteroscopy at King’s College Hospital and the regional preceptor for hysteroscopy training.

Dr Subramanian graduated from the University of Nottingham and trained in the prestigious South London rotation including King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’. During his training, he acquired accreditation from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the medical and surgical management of infertility, complications of early pregnancy and hysteroscopic surgery.

Dr Subramanian also undertook a competitive senior clinical fellowship in reproductive medicine at King’s Fertility. During this high-volume fellowship, he became proficient in all aspects of reproductive medicine including assisted conception care, fertility preservation for social and
medical reasons as well as oocyte retrieval, intrauterine insemination and embryo transfer procedures. The culmination of this experience led to him being independently accredited for his skills and expertise in the field by the British Fertility Society.

He has published in leading journals such as the BMJ, BJOG and Human Reproduction as well as book chapters in the field of reproductive medicine. He has presented nationally and internationally, won numerous prizes and was awarded an MPhil for his research in reproductive surgical simulation.

Dr Subramanian currently undertakes a high-volume clinical practice, with standardisation of care that is evidence based but ensuring that his treatment plans are individualised and tailored to the needs of his patients.

Ms Leila
Hanna

Miss Hanna has more than 30 years’ experience as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and established some of the very first IVF services in London. As a Senior Research Fellow to Professor Robert Winston, she was part of the team that delivered the first IVF quads in the northern hemisphere.

She has travelled all over the world teaching on in vitro fertilization and intrauterine insemination and set up two highly successful central London IVF centres, as well as one of the first satellite NHS assisted conception services in the UK. Miss Hanna continues to teach and is passionate about developing safer equipment for minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.

Miss Hanna is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the British Fertility Society and the European Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

She offers both reproductive medicine and surgery in addition to assisted conception from our satellite clinic in Kent.

Mr Omer Onur
Cakir

Mr. Cakir is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at King’s College Hospital, Department of Urology, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, School of Life Sciences & Medicine.

Mr. Cakir completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Urology at Chicago/Illinois, USA and completed his Andrology and Male Infertility Fellowship at University College London Hospital, Andrology Institute in London, UK. Dr Cakir also holds a MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics

Mr. Cakir is the Chair of the Basic Science Committee of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM). He is the Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU), Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM) and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).

Dr Fabio
Castiglione

Dr. Fabio Castiglione is an andrologist Consultant at King’s Fertility, King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. He has also obtained the qualification as a Full Professor in Urology in Italy and is an Associate Professor at the University College of London in London. Dr. Castiglione has been proclaimed Prostate Cancer UK Champion by the UK’s largest prostate cancer prevention association: PROSTATE CANCER UK.

Dr. Castiglione obtained a degree in medicine and then a specialization in urology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. He received his PhD in stem cells and erectile dysfunction at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). Dr. Castiglione is considered one of the pioneers of regenerative medicine in male sexual diseases, having published the first studies on stem cells for Peyronie’s disease. Dr. Castiglione is a fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM), the European Urology Board (FEBU) and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Andrological Guidelines of the International Sexual Medicine Society (ISSM), the European Society of Urology (UAE) and the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM).

Dr Fabio Castiglione was awarded with Excellence Award 2022 from the European Society for Sexual Medicine and with the rising star award by the International Society for Sexual Medicine.

Ms. Maria
Satchi

Ms. Maria Satchi is Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at King’s Fertility and is part of the South East London Urology Network at Kings College Hospital and Guys and St Thomas Hospital.

Following her speciality training in Urology, she completed a competitive andrology fellowship at the world-renowned Institute of Andrology at University College London Hospital. She has previously established and led a regional andrology and male fertility service for the Kent region introducing microsurgical procedures.

She is an elected member of the Andrology committee for the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the andrology special interest group of the British Fertility Society and works closely with leading fertility charities, campaigning for patient support groups and dissemination of patient information.

Mr Gordon
Muir

Mr Gordon Muir is a consultant urological surgeon whose NHS base is King’s College Hospital, he qualified in medicine at the University of Glasgow and spent time in the Army, then his postgraduate training in surgery and urology took place in London at St George’s and the Royal Marsden Hospitals as well as time spent in France, Egypt , the USA and Italy.

His clinical interests are in prostate disease (particularly minimally invasive management of prostate symptoms and prostate cancer), male urinary symptoms including incontinence, and male sexual dysfunction and fertility (including treatments and surgery for erectile problems).

He has research and publication expertise in the fields of surgical training, erectile problems, laser prostatectomy and urological cancer. Mr Muir runs regular international training courses for other specialists, and has lectured in these areas around the world, with visiting professorships in Asia, Europe, Africa and the USA.

Minimally invasive treatment of prostate disease and prostate cancer. Urological laser surgery, Erectile dysfunction and andrology.

Niki Konsta

Niki is a Midwifery graduate with an MSc in Management of Health Care Services from the National University of Athens. She worked as a fertility nurse in IVF clinics in Athens and Manchester for more than a decade before joining King’s Fertility.

As Head of Nursing, Niki works closely with the team to ensure the patient experience is smooth and that personal care is always top of the agenda. She is also a member of Royal College of Nursing and certified by the British Fertility Society in Pelvic Ultrasound.

Niki brings 15 years of experience at the coal face of healthcare working both as a midwife and a fertility nurse. The circle of life begins at conception and Niki has had the privilege of contributing in fertility disciplines that help begin the process.

Niki is also adept in the business and management side of running a successful fertility clinic and strongly believes that high quality, individualised treatment will achieve the best possible outcomes. Passionate about fertility, Niki strives to ensure anyone who wants to be a parent is given their best chance of success in a calm and compassionate environment.

Nursing Team

Our nursing team is a core element of King’s Fertility. Our nurses are involved in all stages of a treatment cycle and are there to support our patients both physically and emotionally at every step of their personalised journey. From the initial consultation to blood tests, planning a treatment cycle, assisting in theatre and in the follow up of a treatment, they make sure that everyone is always supported and clearly understands the processes ahead. Our nurses and healthcare assistants recognise just how much our patients invest in their treatment – and each one is committed to providing exceptional levels of patient care and support.

Anastasia Mania

Anastasia Mania has been actively involved in fertility treatment and research since graduating in Molecular Biology at University College London (UCL) in 2004.

She joined the clinical team at UCL working on preimplantation genetic diagnosis and screening (PGD and PGS) whilst at the same time obtaining her MSc in Pre-implantation Genetics and Fetal Medicine (2007).

During her time at UCL she got her first taste for research when investigating chromosomal changes in embryos. Spurred on by this, she began her clinical training in Embryology at a large NHS teaching Hospital in London, where she coordinated the PGD service until 2013. During this time, she became ACE and HCPC registered and taught as an honorary lecturer at Imperial College London’s Masters in Reproductive Biology.

Anastasia then joined a very successful private London unit as a senior embryologist where she became very proficient in oocyte vitrification and blastocyst biopsy. Whilst there, she became team leader for the research group and has published several papers.

Anastasia is passionate about improving pregnancy outcomes and applying the latest research to her clinical work while caring for the patient. Now at King’s Fertility, she is excited about the road ahead.

Embryology team

The King’s Fertility embryology team is made up of highly experienced and skilled embryologists trained in the most advanced IVF techniques. The embryologists work in our state-of-the-art laboratory which is continually updated with the very latest equipment. They use eggs and sperm to create embryos which are then either transferred to the uterus or frozen for later use. Our ongoing focus on research and innovation means that we can deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Falak Arshad

Falak Arshad works with patients who are embarking on assisted reproduction to support their decision making and personal IVF treatment journey. Falak’s fertility counselling includes diagnostic private genetic testing for individuals suspected to be affected with a genetic condition.

Passionate about improving the patient journey and encouraging informed decision-making, Falak’s focus is always on ensuring that her patients feel well cared for and supported throughout their fertility journey.

Falak has a degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics and has been actively involved in the field of assisted reproduction since 2016 after graduating with a Masters degree in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine at University College London (UCL). She also has a Masters degree from Cardiff University in Genetic and Genomic Counselling.

Clair Engelbrecht

Clair Engelbrecht is a board registered genetic counsellor with more than 4 years’ working experience in the field of clinical genetics and genetic counselling. Clair obtained her qualifications in South Africa where she worked in both the public academic hospital setting as well as the private healthcare sector. Clair’s focus was on cancer and prenatal genetic counselling.

Katie Bottle

Katie is an experienced Fertility Counsellor and Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist and has been working in the field helping both couples and individuals since 2010.

She provides counselling support with all aspects of assisted conception, and also offers therapy to couples and individuals experiencing relationship and sexual issues.

Katie has worked in many different settings, including NHS, Private Sector and Charity Sector.

Tracey Chester

Tracey has 34 years counselling experience, firstly as a Registered Mental Health Nurse then specialised in loss, trauma, bereavement and fertility issues for the last 28 years.

Tracey has worked in both the NHS and private sector and in several different fertility settings.Tracey is accredited by the BICA of which she was former Chair in 2014-2017. Tracey is a registered member of the BACP. A member of the Royal College of Nursing and the Nursing & Midwifery council.

Sue Moore

Sue started her career as a Registered Nurse and subsequently completed her counsellor training. Sue has been a counsellor for over 20 years.

Sue has undertaken further specialist training in Couple Counselling, Psychosexual Therapy and Fertility Counselling. These specialties are primarily concerned with relationships and when relationships in our lives become distressed we can feel emotionally challenged. This can also have a huge impact on our wellbeing. Sue has worked in several Fertility Centres and with Relate for many years. Sue is an accredited Counsellor with both the BACP and the BICA and a member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). Sue is also a qualified Supervisor of Counsellors.

Claude Rennert

Claude has been working as a fertility counsellor since 1997 and is both BACP & BICA accredited. Claude is an independent counsellor who is also attached to two further clinics.

To support her work, she also studied pre and post adoption issues and qualified with the Post Adoption Centre in 2002/3. After this training, Claude spent a few years offering experiential training mainly to social workers in the UK to give them an insight into the fertility journey of prospective adopters before they go and assess them.
